It has an assertive aroma and taste, and I always thought it was something you ate as if you were shouting, "Delicious! I thought curry was something to be eaten as if shouting "Delicious!
But the curry I encountered at bloom Curry and Coffee in Fuse was somehow different.
It was a taste that relaxed my shoulders, yet had a core, a taste that gently accompanied me in my daily life.

The alleyway of Fuse was filled with a nice aroma.
A few minutes’ walk from Fuse Station on the Kintetsu Line. After passing through the arcade, the street suddenly becomes quiet. A small sign that could easily be missed led me to “bloom curry and coffee.
The white interior is filled with soft light, and the background music is subdued, the sound of cutlery echoing in the background. From the back of the kitchen, you can smell the aroma of spices. It is the kind of space that makes the hands of a clock move a little slower.
I want people to try it for the first time.”
Asuka, the owner of the restaurant, told us this. As a student, she traveled around India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka with a backpack and discovered the magic of spices.
The swamp of spices is gentle.
Some people may get a little defensive when they hear the words “spiced curry. Spicy, peculiar, for adults…. However, bloom’s curry quickly betrays such an image.
Take, for example, the three kinds of curry that change weekly: butter chicken, keema, and vegetable curry.
Each curry is surrounded by a bowl of cereal rice, which gives off its own color and aroma. The pickled purple cabbage adds acidity and rhythm to the flavor, and the fried root vegetables leave a crispy little surprise. Dried herbs as a finishing touch decorate the plate as if they were flowers.
And the flavor is very mild. The spiciness and habit are kept to a minimum, but the depth of the spices can still be felt. It is surprising that even a four-year-old child could finish the dish.
Asuka’s curry, which she says she hopes will help people discover the charm of spices, is filled with such gentleness that it is as if she is gently taking the hand of the person standing at the entrance.
From apparel to curry. Aesthetics on a plate.
Asuka was originally in the apparel industry. Her experience is also put to good use in her curry.There are moments when the beauty of the appearance takes your breath away. The texture of the cereal rice, the color of the curry, the placement of the pickles.Everything in the dish is not too calculated, yet somehow feels right. It’s rough, but sophisticated.

The chef spares no time or effort, saying, “If I’m going to go to the trouble of eating at a restaurant, I want something that I can’t make at home. This attention to detail is what makes each dish so persuasive.

At bloom, café time begins after lunch time. The time spent relaxing after lunch is another attraction of this restaurant.
We recommend the carrot cake. It is made of rice flour with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom. The inside is filled with carrots, walnuts, and raisins. On top is a sweet cheese frosting. The spices are softly wafting through your nose, but not too much.
Then there is chai, an Indian-style milk tea. The aroma of cloves and cardamom gives a calm aftertaste that invites you to take a deep breath.
And then there is the homemade ginger ale. A syrup of ginger and spices boiled down and mixed with carbonated water, it is slightly sweet and a bit stimulating. It shows me that spices are not just for curry.
It is not a new specialty of Osaka, but rather “a new option for everyday life.
Spiced curry is becoming a well-established presence in Osaka. It uses no roux, little oil, and no flour. That is why it is light, yet deep in flavor.
When you eat curry at bloom, you realize that spiced curry cannot be described simply by words such as “healthy” or “attractive. What is there is someone’s experience, time and effort, and kindness to the people who eat it.
