Today begins in front of the colorful refrigerator

In the morning, I hear the sound of fruit being cut for juice.

The refrigerator at “Café More” is like the face of the shop. Behind its large glass doors, seasonal fruits quietly make their presence known: bananas, melons, oranges, and pineapples. Today, there’s even a little bit of mango.

Located on the first floor of Aeon Vernol Fuse, a place that still retains a touch of the Showa era, this shop in one corner feels a bit like a living room at home—strangely comforting even on a first visit.

As soon as I sink into the sofa right by the entrance, I feel a sense of weight settle on my back. I take a deep breath. It looks like it’s going to be a good day.

A juice that’s more like eating than drinking

Every time an order comes in, the staff picks up the fruit. The sound of the juicer resonates with a surprisingly pleasant rhythm.

Café More’s mixed juice isn’t just a “nostalgic drink.”Since the fruit is used when it’s perfectly ripe—at the very “peak of freshness”—it feels as if the fruit itself is melting in your mouth the moment you take a sip.

Actually, it’s said that this drink, known as “mixed juice,” originated at a fruit shop in Osaka.

“Is there a way to make good use of fruit that’s too ripe to sell, rather than throwing it away?” This drink—a blend of various fruits—was born from that idea.

That kindness, born from a sense of “what a waste,” still lives on in Osaka’s café culture today.

At Cafe More, too, fruit takes center stage. The orange juice is 100% pure juice. You can ask for syrup if you like, but the natural sweetness of the fruit is enough on its own.

“Even people who don’t usually like sweet things say they can drink this one,” says a female staff member who’s been working here for a long time, with a smile.

Rich mango juice and drinks blended with yogurt are also hidden favorites.

It’s a flavor that, after just one sip, makes you want to bring someone along. That “someone” was surely in the shop today. There was even a family spanning three generations visiting today.

The Reason a Hotel Was Built on the Site of “Moa”

SEKAI HOTEL’s guest room “N.Doors 2” is actually located on the site of the former Café Moa.

Although “MoA” has now moved to a location right nearby, I feel as though the “warmth of the town” that used to fill that space still lingers within the hotel.

For example, the morning after staying at “N.2 Doors.” You step out of your room, walk down the street, and have a juice at Café MoA. Just doing that makes it feel less like a trip and more like an extension of daily life.

It’s not just a “quick stop” on the way to a tourist spot; it’s a feeling of being welcomed as part of the town itself. That feeling might be exactly why SEKAI HOTEL chose to establish itself here.

The Scent of the Showa Era and the Gentleness of Today

Starting in April 2025, Café More became completely smoke-free. It used to be a place where cigarette smoke seemed to fit right in, but now that scent has given way to the aromas of fruit and coffee.

Each sofa inside the café is slightly different in shape and color, and every one is exquisitely retro. There are low tables with cat’s-foot legs and marble-style tabletops. Next to the artificial flowers on display, the sign reads “Restroom.”

It’s that certain vibe—one you simply can’t recreate even if you tried to make it “trendy.” More’s interior isn’t built on “era,” but on “atmosphere.”

And then, there are the aprons. These aren’t off-the-shelf items. Someone sewed them to match the preferences of each staff member. The width of the shoulder straps and the position of the pockets differ slightly from one to the next.

The steam from breakfast blends into the town

Fuse is quiet in the morning. Just as the shutters on the shopping street begin to open, More is already serving breakfast.

Toast, a boiled egg, seasonal fruit, and a mild cup of coffee. All for 460 yen. A little surprise and a lot of comfort.

A group of seniors, regular office workers, and someone visiting for the first time today. I feel that the secret to this shop’s cozy atmosphere lies in the staff’s words: “Thank you for coming.”

Moore has always been in Fuse, yet it changes a little bit every day. Having a place like this in town somehow puts my mind at ease.

Café More: “The Usual Spot”

There’s nothing special about it. But the day will surely come when the memory of having a juice here today suddenly resurfaces.

It’s fine if you’re just stopping by while shopping. It’s fine if you’re out for a walk. When you come to Fuse, stop by More first. We’d be happy if that became a little habit of yours.

Fruit, sofas, and time in Fuse. Café More will continue to be that kind of place for a long time to come.
