Escape the hustle and bustle and head to the forest for afternoon tea [The FAERIE PATH TEA ROOM | Specialty Tea Shop]
A narrow alleyway lies beyond the torii gate of Fuse Ebisu Shrine, past the hustle and bustle of the shopping district. Tucked away at the end of that alley, a small teahouse stands quietly, as if you’ve stepped into a story.
“The FAERIE PATH TEAROOM.” Here, along with the steam rising from my teacup, a sense of inner calm slowly begins to emerge. It was the rainy season. On a morning when the hydrangeas were in full bloom, I found myself rediscovering both the tea and myself in this very spot.

At the end of the alley, there was a door to a story

It was 9:00 a.m. I was walking alone down an alley in the town of Fuse, where there were still few people about. From the front of Fuse Ebisu Shrine, I turned right, guided by a small sign.
At the end of the narrow path, as if I were passing through it, stood “The FAERIE PATH TEA ROOM.”It looked like a scene straight out of a picture book. Hydrangeas, still clinging to traces of the rain, gently colored the ground at my feet.

Light streamed in through the glass. A serene space with just four seats. The bustle of the shopping district faded into the distance as if it were a dream.
A moment to focus solely on tea

This shop doesn’t serve coffee or juice. All they offer is black tea—and they’re serious about it, with over 25 varieties available at any given time.
The owner is a certified tea advisor who carefully selects the tea leaves after taking your order and brews it with precision, calculating the exact steeping time.

What sets this place apart is that there are no tea leaves in the pot. The tea is served “ready to drink”—with the leaves deliberately removed at the optimal moment—so you can enjoy a rich, aromatic flavor without any astringency right down to the very last cup.
Three servings of tea are kept warm under a handmade tea cozy crafted by the owner, becoming increasingly mellow as time passes.

“I want you to truly engage with the tea when you come here,” says the owner—words that lend a quiet sense of anticipation to the space.
For just two hours, listen closely to your own senses and engage with the tea. Here, you can savor that luxury as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Tea has a partner

For just two hours, tune in to your senses and engage with the tea. Here, you can savor that luxury as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

On this day, I chose the carrot cake. The subtle aroma of cinnamon and the crunch of walnuts paired so perfectly with the rich milk tea that I couldn’t help but sigh in delight.

The “Tea Time Set” includes one scone, one cake, and one biscuit. A small plate packed with dreams. This might just be what an affordable afternoon tea is all about.
The perfect tea experience comes with plenty of food, and

“Unlike coffee, the flavor of tea really comes to life when enjoyed with plenty of food,”
said Ms. Tsujimoto, the owner who runs the tea room on her own, with a cheerful smile. Her soft tone and gentle smile seemed to perfectly reflect the atmosphere of the space.

Enveloped by the aroma, my mind unwinds with every bite. Even though it’s just an ordinary moment, my heart feels light and airy.
I think the time spent here is a moment when you can truly “return to yourself.”
A quiet path back to yourself

With only four seats, the shop sometimes fills up quickly on weekend mornings. The meticulous service and the leisurely pace of time are made possible precisely because she runs the place all by herself.
I want to tell someone about it. But, deep down, I don’t want anyone else to know. Every time I visit this shop, those conflicting feelings quietly stir within me.
That’s how much I want to cherish this place.

When I come here, I can honestly think, “Ah, this is exactly the kind of time I needed.” Time to put down my phone and simply gaze at a steaming cup. Time to breathe quietly, enveloped in a sweet aroma.
Such simple things soothe my mind more than I ever imagined.
